Health PEI is seeking part-time and full-time permanent Family Practice Anesthesiologists (FPA) to join the Department of Anesthesiology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PEI.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a 243-bed acute care hospital provides emergency, surgical, inpatient and ambulatory care services. The hospital is operated by Health PEI, a crown corporation responsible for the delivery of publicly funded health services in Prince Edward Island. Health PEI’s head office is located at 16 Garfield Street, Charlottetown, PEI.
The FPA is responsible for the care of adult and pediatric patients before, during and after surgical operations, labour and delivery, and certain interventional procedures. The Physician will provide anesthetic services to patients for surgical, obstetrical, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. This will include elective and emergency operations, anesthetic consultations, acute care management services, and other anesthetic. FPA physicians will also have the ability to provide support in the Emergency Department, Community Family Medicine or other areas of specialty, if desired.
- Full-time or part-time hours and on-call coverage as required
- Physicians have the option of choosing a salary, contract for service, or fee-for-service payment modality. Information related to payment modalities, including salary; fee-for-service tariff of fees; blended payments (shadow billings); on-call payments; and benefits including paid vacation entitlements, CME funding, RRSP program, and more can be found in the Master Agreement.

- CCFP- FPA Certification, experience is preferred;
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island;
- Appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging.
Atlantic Registry
Starting May 1, 2023, physicians whose primary practice is in Atlantic Canada (and hold a general registration in either PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland and Labrador) may be eligible to obtain registration to practice in all four Atlantic Canadian provinces via the Atlantic Registry.
