Health PEI is seeking locum physicians to provide Hospitalist (inpatient care) services in Prince Edward Island at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown and Prince County Hospital in Summerside.

Hospitalists provide comprehensive inpatient care, including admission history and physical examinations, daily medical management, participation in multidisciplinary rounds, family conferences as needed, and discharge planning. Additional responsibilities include standby coverage during periods of high patient census and acute, targeted outpatient follow-up of recently discharged hospitalist patients.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital, located in Charlottetown, is the provincial referral centre for specialized hospital services. This 243-bed facility provides emergency, surgical, inpatient, and ambulatory care services.

Prince County Hospital, located in Summerside, is the second largest acute hospital in PEI. This 110-bed facility provides emergency, surgical, inpatient, and ambulatory services.

Beyond PEI’s iconic lighthouses and serene shores lies a workplace and experience as unique as the Island itself. At Health PEI, you will discover locum opportunities that extend beyond conventional healthcare. Physicians practice in collaborative, close-knit teams that value open communication and shared decision-making. You will play a vital role in supporting Islanders in one of Canada’s fastest-growing provinces while helping shape a healthier future for our communities.
