Sessional Rate:
- $200 per hour – Weekdays (Mon-Fri 08:00-17:59)
- $226.25 per hour – Weekday evenings (Mon-Fri 18:00-23:59)
- $377 per hour – NIGHTS (24:00-07:59)
- $229 per hour – Weekends and holiday days (Sat-Sun, Holidays 08:00-17:59)
- $255.25 – Weekend and holiday evenings (Sat-Sun, Holidays18:00-23:59)
Rural and Remote Shift Incentive applicable to Kings County Memorial Hospital and Western Hospital:
- For identified shifts between an additional $600 per shift will be paid.
- If you pick up 3+ identified shifts in a calendar month or compressed within a 15-day period that crosses calendar months the incentive increases to $800 per shift for that month/period of time.
- To qualify for this incentive, the shift must be identified by Medical Affairs and must be at minimum 6 hours.
Blended Payment:
- Effective April 1st, in addition to the applicable sessional hourly rates above, ED physicians will bill fee-for-service from 18 new, simplified, ED-specific codes that will be paid in real-time (every two weeks). These fee-for-service codes are estimated to yield an additional $40-60/hr during the day, $50-75/hr during the evening and on weekends, and $80-120/hr overnight, considering the applicable after-hours premiums. These amounts are dependent on the physician’s patient volume, complexity and relevant procedures and are not guaranteed.
Short Term Offerings
(1-10 days worked per month)
- Reimbursement of the MCC-AMR Application Fee and PEI Application Fee.
- Reimbursement of the cost of locum license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI.
- Coverage of registration fees with the Medical Society of PEI.
Locums coming from out of province and who are not Island residents are also eligible for the following:
- Coverage of accommodations during the length of the locum stay on Prince Edward Island, up to a maximum of $300 per night or $200 without receipts.
- $100 per day living expense stipend will be provided for the days worked during the locum period.
- Paid actual travel time ($50/hour) from home province to Prince Edward Island and return will be covered.
- Cost of one return travel to Prince Edward Island based on an economy airfare to a maximum of $2,000. If traveling by car, mileage will be reimbursed as determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and bridge and road tolls reimbursed with submission of receipts. Reimbursement for travel by car is not to exceed the cost of economy airfare.
- Coverage of car rental up to $1,400 per week with receipts.
Long Term Locums
(Working at least 10 days a month for no less than 6 months with a defined start and end date).
- Reimbursement of the MCC-AMR Application Fee and PEI Application Fee costs with Physicians Apply.
- Reimbursement of cost of license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI.
- Coverage of dues with Medical Society of PEI.
Locums coming from out of province and who are not Island residents are also eligible for the following:
- Accommodations:
- 10 + days coverage per month – up to $5,000 per month with receipts or $3,000 per month without receipts.
- $50 per day living expense stipend will be provided for the days worked during the locum period.
- Paid actual travel time ($50/hour) from home province to Prince Edward Island and return will be covered.
- Cost of one return travel to Prince Edward Island based on an economy airfare to a maximum of $2,000 with receipts. If traveling by car, mileage will be reimbursed as determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and bridge and road tolls reimbursed with submission of receipts. Reimbursement for travel by car is not to exceed the cost of economy airfare.
- Coverage of car rental up to $1,400 per week with receipts.
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI;
- Eligibility for appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging; and
- FRCP(EM), CFPC (EM), experience preferred.
Health Care Workers are required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination as per Health PEI’s Covid-19 Immunization and Management Policy. If a new hire is unable to be vaccinated as a result of a medical exemption, they will be required to submit supporting documentation to Employee Health / Wellness and Safety.
